Matt Williamson accepts 2003 lead summer camp counselor position

Matthew Williamson has accepted the position of lead summer camp counselor at Wahsega 4-H Center for the summer of 2003. Matt, a former Putnam County 4-H'er, is a senior at Georgia Tech working on a degree in civil engineering and is also a computer science teaching assistant.

This will be Matt's fifth year as a counselor. He will be one of only four counselors in the program this summer who is serving their fifth or sixth year and one of approximately 90 young men and women who will serve as counselors for the Georgia 4-H Summer Camping Program for the summer of 2003.

His diverse career with the camping program includes two years at Rock Eagle 4-H Center where he was awarded the Outstanding First Year award in 1999 and served as a Cloverleaf Adventure Program counselor in 2000. For the last two summers Matt has worked as a counselor here at Wahsega 4-H Center. Matt occasionally mountain climbs during the school year, keeping his skills sharp for the high-ropes program at Wahsega.

As lead counselor, Matt has a year-long role that begins in earnest with Leadership Training Weekend in mid-January and ends with the Christmas Reunion in December. Among the many duties he will perform between now and the end of the year are selection of his team of counselors for the summer, planning and leading training events, directing the summer program and editing the massive Lead Counselor Outline.

We look forward to having Matt here to strengthen the program at Wahsega this summer. His enthusiasm, knowledge of the program, and incomparable work ethic will combine to make this a great summer camp experience for all the Cloverleaf 4-H'ers who will be attending camp at Wahsega.
