WAHSEGA 4-H CENTER

Position: Environmental Educator (Temporary/Seasonal/typically 40 hours per week)

Location: Wahsega 4-H Center in the north Georgia mountains 12 miles north of Dahlonega, Georgia.

Job Description: Inspire young people through experiential outdoor learning at one of the largest environmental education programs in the nation. With five 4-H Centers located from the mountains to the coast, the University of Georgia has an exciting career opportunity for you.

Live and work at Wahsega 4-H Center in the beautiful Chattahoochee National Forest just minutes from the Appalachian Trail, cascading waterfalls and numerous other recreational opportunities.

Wahsega 4-H Center serves as an educational facility for older elementary and middle school students attending 3-day field studies. We are looking for enthusiastic educators to lead young people through multidisciplinary classes in the outdoors.

Class subjects offered include both life and earth science, survival skills, teambuilding, and pioneer living skills. Two weeks of paid, in-depth training in all subject areas is provided. Other duties include care of captive wildlife, curriculum development and assisting in daily upkeep of facilities.

Applications for spring and fall positions are accepted year-round. Seasonal employees qualify for Pro Deal offers on Chaco sandals and free stays at the coastal 4-H centers during time off.

Requirements: Commitment, genuine interest in child development, dynamic personality, well-developed communication skills, creativity, and leadership ability; Bachelor's degree in Education, Natural Science, Environmental Education, Biology, Forestry, Outdoor education, or related fields preferred

Seasons: Fall (August-mid November) and Spring (late February - late May)

Salary: 8.95/hr with room and board available for $70 per week; salary increase dependent on experience; Internships available.
